+Historical Significance
The Brodie clan, with roots dating back to the 12th century, is a Scottish clan originating from the lands of Brodie in Moray. The Brodies are said to have descended from the ancient Pictish tribe that inhabited Scotland before the arrival of the Celts. Prominent in the northeast of Scotland during the Middle Ages, their stronghold, Brodie Castle, still stands today. Initially affiliated with the MacDougalls and later the Clan Murray, they became an independent clan in the 16th century. The first recorded Brodie was Michael Brother, who held the barony from Richard I in 1311 in Morayshire. The castle, home to the Brodie chief for over 400 years, is now open to the public. A notable figure, Alexander Brodie, served as Lord Provost of Edinburgh and opposed King Charles I's religious policies.
Color Scheme & Pattern
The Brodie Red tartan is a striking pattern, characterized by a bold combination of red, black, and yellow. The base of the tartan features a deep, dark red, with thick black lines intersected by thin yellow lines. This color scheme symbolizes strength and resilience, embodying the spirit of the Brodie clan and its rich heritage.
